GENESI and WELKER: A Synergistic Showcase of House and Techno’s Ascendant Stars

In a significant development for the electronic music landscape, two artists prominently featured on Dancing Astronaut’s annual "Artists to Watch" lists are set to share the stage. GENESI, recognized as an Artist to Watch for 2025, and WELKER, slated for similar acclaim in 2026, will perform an extended set together at Knockdown Center in Queens on Sunday, October 11. Presented by Gray Area, this event serves as a tangible demonstration of the rapid evolution and burgeoning talent within the house and techno scenes, bringing together past predictions and future breakthroughs in a single, curated experience.

The pairing underscores Dancing Astronaut’s foresight in identifying artists poised for significant impact. GENESI, already a recognized force, achieved widespread recognition as the producer behind the critically acclaimed track "Everything You Have Done," a collaboration with MEDUZA that became a significant talking point within the dance music community. By the close of 2024, his discography had expanded to include 14 releases across esteemed labels such as Aeterna, REALM, and Tomorrowland Music. His work garnered substantial support from industry heavyweights including Anyma, Vintage Culture, Steve Angello, and Armin van Buuren, solidifying the publication’s assessment that his career was merely in its nascent stages.

The success of "Everything You Have Done" cannot be overstated. The track reached the number one position on Beatport and is rapidly approaching a staggering 100 million streams across digital platforms. GENESI’s subsequent output further cemented his trajectory, with notable releases on Diynamic, REALM, Truesoul, and Disorder. These included the impactful Freak EP, a joint venture with MEDUZA, his solo Hyper EP, and a remix of Linska’s "Bad Boy," which notably topped Beatport’s Melodic House & Techno chart. Linska himself, also a recipient of Dancing Astronaut’s 2025 Artist to Watch designation, exemplifies the interconnectedness of this rising cohort. GENESI’s consistent output and genre-bending productions have propelled him into the top five of 1001Tracklists’ Top 101 Producers ranking. His live performances have equally garnered attention, including a debut at Coachella’s Yuma Tent, appearances at prominent festivals like ARC Music Festival and Seismic, and participation in Hï Ibiza with MEDUZA and James Hype’s Our House collective. His support slots for artists like Solomun during Milan Fashion Week further highlight his growing stature. From a promising name on an editorial list, GENESI has demonstrably evolved into one of the most influential and supported new artists in the house and techno circuit.

WELKER, positioned one year behind GENESI on this developmental path, exhibits a compelling parallel in his own career ascent. The Brazilian-born, Los Angeles-based producer launched his formal year of releases with "Element" on Diynamic’s Four To The Floor compilation, a label that has also been instrumental in GENESI’s career. His early success led to further opportunities on labels such as Repopulate Mars, When Stars Align, and Three Six Zero. WELKER has garnered support from a distinguished group of artists, including Solomun, CamelPhat, Vintage Culture, Gordo, and Innellea, and has received airtime from tastemakers like Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Dancing Astronaut’s initial recognition of WELKER highlighted Brazil’s burgeoning significance as a vital hub for house music innovation. His inclusion on a bill alongside GENESI, less than a year after this prediction, signifies a pivotal moment in his burgeoning career and reinforces the publication’s accurate forecasting.

A Conversation with GENESI: Reflecting on Growth and Anticipating the Future

In anticipation of the October 11th event, GENESI shared his reflections on his remarkable year and offered insights into what attendees can expect at Knockdown Center.

DANCING ASTRONAUT: Dancing Astronaut named you an Artist to Watch for 2025, and since then you’ve hit No. 1 on Beatport, played Coachella, and broken into the top five of 1001Tracklists. Looking back, what’s been the most transformative experience for you this year?

GENESI: All of those milestones have been incredible, but I think the most transformative part has been taking a moment to look back and realize how much has happened this year. When you’re constantly touring and focusing on the next show and the next track to finish, it’s easy to forget to stop and take it all in. This has been my biggest touring year yet, taking me across almost every continent, and seeing how people around the world connect with the music is always the best part!

DANCING ASTRONAUT: At Knockdown Center you’ll share the bill with WELKER, one of our 2026 Artists to Watch, and you’re playing an extended set. What can people expect from the night, and what would you tell an artist who’s where you were a year ago?

GENESI: WELKER is a great artist who’s really coming up, so I’m very happy to have him with me at Knockdown Center, as well as Chellzz and Gabz. I’m really looking forward to sharing the night with them. For my set, people can expect a lot of new music that I’m finishing at the moment and a bit more of a range than usual. I don’t get many chances to play an extended set, so I’ll have more freedom to explore different sounds and take the crowd on more of a journey. To anyone who is where I was a year ago, I’d say to trust the process, stay focused on the music and keep working. A lot can change in a year and you never know when!

The Synergy of Shared Vision and Curated Experience

The strategic alignment of GENESI and WELKER on the same bill is a testament to their shared appeal among influential tastemakers. Both artists have demonstrated a remarkable ability to traverse the spectrum of house and techno, from emotionally resonant melodic productions to driving, percussive club anthems. The fact that their supporters include established figures like Solomun and Vintage Culture speaks volumes about their sonic compatibility and broad appeal. This collaborative showcase promises a comprehensive overview of the contemporary house and techno soundscape, illustrating the direction in which these genres are evolving.

The event’s format is a crucial element in its appeal. GENESI’s extended set offers a unique opportunity for an artist to deviate from the typical festival performance constraints, allowing for a more nuanced and expansive musical narrative. Attendees can anticipate a carefully constructed set that builds gradually, weaving through deeper, more experimental selections and unreleased material before transitioning into his more robust and energetic productions. The choice of Knockdown Center, a celebrated warehouse venue in New York known for its immersive atmosphere, provides the ideal backdrop for such a sonic exploration. Local talents Chellzz and Gabz, performing a back-to-back set, will further enrich the evening’s programming, adding a distinct local flavor to the curated lineup.

The Broader Implications for the Dance Music Ecosystem

The pairing of GENESI and WELKER at Knockdown Center is more than just a single event; it represents a broader trend within the electronic music industry. The success of artists like GENESI, who has transitioned from a highly anticipated emerging talent to a mainstream force, validates the editorial strategies of platforms like Dancing Astronaut. His journey, marked by critical acclaim, chart-topping releases, and high-profile festival performances, serves as a blueprint for aspiring artists. Similarly, WELKER’s rapid ascent, bolstered by support from established figures and a growing discography on respected labels, indicates a fertile ground for new talent to flourish.

This event also highlights the increasing importance of curated experiences that bring together artists with a shared trajectory. The fact that both artists are supported by the same influential figures suggests a common thread in their musical philosophy and their ability to connect with a discerning audience. This synergy allows for a cohesive and impactful listening experience, offering fans a glimpse into the future of house and techno music. The continued emphasis on the "Artist to Watch" narrative underscores the dynamic nature of the industry and the constant emergence of fresh talent.

Furthermore, the event’s location at Knockdown Center, a venue renowned for its capacity to host large-scale electronic music events, signifies the continued growth and demand for high-caliber live performances in New York City. The presence of local acts like Chellzz b2b Gabz adds another layer of significance, demonstrating the interconnectedness of the global electronic music scene with its local communities.

The October 11th showcase at Knockdown Center is a definitive opportunity for fans to witness firsthand the artists that Dancing Astronaut identified as future leaders in dance music. It is a celebration of artistic growth, a testament to the power of curation, and a vibrant indicator of the exciting trajectory of house and techno music.
