Jørn Lande’s presence on "From The Dark" is not his first foray into collaborations with Iommi and other legendary figures from the metal pantheon. He previously performed alongside Iommi and fellow Heaven & Hell members Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice at a memorable tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio in 2010 at the High Voltage Festival in London. This performance also featured the esteemed Glenn Hughes, former vocalist and bassist for Deep Purple.
More recently, in 2024, Tony Iommi released the instrumental track "Deified," which accompanied the launch of a new fragrance. At the time of "Scent Of Dark’s" release, Iommi famously revealed that he possessed "four or five hundred" unused riffs stored on his phone, hinting at the potential for future musical endeavors. Both "Scent Of Dark" and "Deified" were born from a friendship forged during the pandemic between Iommi and Sergio Momo, the acclaimed perfumer and designer for Xerjoff, a brand renowned for its unique and collaborative fragrance creations. Momo, himself an accomplished guitarist, contributes his fretwork to both of these instrumental pieces.

"From The Dark" marks Tony Iommi’s third official solo album, following the critically acclaimed "Iommi" in 2000 and "Fused" in 2005.
